One of their number is here nearly every day during the Christmas season delivering gifts from afar or packages ordered online, so I wanted to say ‘thank you.’ The women delivery people especially seem to appreciate it!
My year isn’t complete if I don’t make a wreath. This year’s are made of burlap strips tied around a foam circle, decorated with pinecones from Wyoming (stashed away in a jar for 15 years), jingle bells, and bark stars from Prima. I also finally found a use for the old red wagon I rescued from the trash some years ago. It’s a perfect place to put out oversized presents, which are just cardboard boxes wrapped with fabric from my stash (I thought it would hold up better than paper). I tossed in a water bottle to weight them down, but a bag of beans or a few rocks would also work! Finally, the birch tree trunk from the Black Hills that I’ve carted around the US for a decade has finally been put to use as a frame for my son’s Advent calendar, inspired by this. I’m always amazed how much I can do when the grandparents are in town!
